On Monday the Valdosta-Lowndes Film Initiative (VLFI) unveiled a new website, at http://valdostafilm.com, to focus on promoting the community as a destination for the media industry. Community leaders apart of VLFI expressed their enthusiasm for the new site.
“Our new website really captures the magic of the South Georgia region,” said Myrna Ballard of the Valdosta Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a major advance in our game plan to promote film & media productions in and around Valdosta.”
“I have been working with the VLFI since its inception and I am very excited about the steps we have taken to promote VLFI as a film destination in Southwest Georgia,” said Amanda Peacock, Regional Project Manager, tourism, GDECD. “The roll-out of the new website will be a great addition to the work VLFI has done. I am excited about this opportunity for this area to increase its presence in film and tourism.”
The new website (valdostafilm.com) showcases locations near the Valdosta and Lowndes County area that gives viewers what the region has to offer for a film production. The site also features a directory of local businesses and assets that can contribute as a resource guide for the media industries coming to the region. VLFI will also be adding social media channels and newsletters to keep the community up-to-date with news related to film and media industry in the region.
The mission of the Valdosta-Lowndes Film Initiative is to promote the Valdosta and Lowndes County community as a destination for the media industry, and thereby being an advocate for economic development and positive awareness of the assets of our region. VLFI is made up of a group of community individuals who advocated for a website to shed focus on Valdosta being a film ready destination.
