installations, the Global South Film Festival showcases the stories shaping South Fulton and
beyond in this high-impact 2 day event December 4th & 5th at the Southwest Arts Center.

- STUDENT SHORTS SCREENING (South Fulton, Ga)- 5 student films showcasing the
next generation of South Fulton filmmakers - KIDNAPPING INC (Haiti) – US Premiere of a crime comedy highlighting Haiti’s
kidnapping crisis - THE ETERNAL SONG (Bulgaria) – Highly-acclaimed cinematic journey through timeless
lands and their Indigenous cultures. - META TAKE ONE (Atlanta, Ga) – Award-winning thriller taking a deep dive into the mind
of an obsessive filmmaker
WORKSHOPS
- UNDERGROUND RAILROADS – Writing workshop led by award-winning author and
poet Nathan Wallace about using art as a mechanism for achieving liberation - SEPARATED BUT UNITED – Writing workshop led by award-winning author and poet
Nathan Wallace on cultural retention efforts across the Diaspora despite colonization - FILM PERMITTING 101 – Facilitated by South Fulton’s CDRA permitting department,
take advantage of this rare opportunity to get an inside look at permit acquisitions in the
city. - FINANCE & DISTRIBUTION WORKSHOP – Met local film financiers and distribution
professionals here in The City of South Fulton looking to assist independent filmmakers
gain traction with their films.
PERFORMANCES
- DRUM EXHIBITION – Wontanara Percussions the world’s first Black-owned
instrument manufacturer and artist development agency, they will be hosting
interactive performances. - ATLANTA JUNKANOO GROUP – Experience the infectious energy of Junkanoo, the
Bahamas’ signature street parade tradition. This performance brings the spirit of
celebration and African heritage to the stage. - TRI-CITIES HIGH SCHOOL – The award-winning Tri-Cities High School band brings the
celebration of musical talent and artistry of South Fulton’s rising generation.
PANELS
- VISIONS OF THE FUTURE PANEL – Dive into the minds of South Fulton’s up and
coming filmmakers – ask questions and learn what visions these young artists have for
the future. - SOFU’S FIRST PEOPLE’S PANEL – Learn about the history of the land in South Fulton
and discover indigenous people’s journey through this storytelling and Q&A experience - DIASPORA FILMMAKING – Moderated by Sidney Portier’s daughter Rowena
Sutherland learn about the continuation of arts and filmmakers throughout the Caribbean - TRANSLATING ACROSS MEDIUMS – Hosted by Fulton County Public Arts Manager
Tisha Smith, learn about new and innovative types of storytelling and how they’re being
supported right here in Fulton County.
ART INSTALLATIONS
- LETTERS TO THE FUTURE – Organized by local filmmaker and artist Zion Bain Letters
to the Future is a CRT TV installation showcasing all the submissions provided for the
Youth Film Invitational, while recording short memoirs of residents directed towards
future generations. Come tell your story!
