Out on Film Festival 2023 and The Gayly Dose will kick off this year’s festival with the screening of ‘God Save the Queen: A Portrait of Tina DeVore,’ a film documentary short directed by Atlantan Nicole Sage. The film, shot in 1998, offers audiences an intimate and mesmerizing glimpse into the dynamic world of one of Atlanta’s iconic drag legends, Tina DeVore.

The ‘God Save the Queen: A Portrait of Tina DeVore’ screening will take place on Sept. 15 at 7 pm EST. The venue selected for this occasion is Future – 50 Lower Alabama St SW Suite 180— a Q & A panel will follow. Future is an ideal setting to captivate the audience with the special performance by Motion of Savannah. Admission is free to members of the public, ensuring widespread access to this unforgettable cinematic experience.

Publicist and director Nicole Sage, a Georgia State University Film School graduate, shared her excitement about the screening, stating, “I am thrilled to showcase a small glimpse of Tina DeVore’s dynamic life on-screen after all these years. This film allows viewers to see Tina’s true essence and appreciate her impact as an Atlanta drag legend. It has truly been an honor to bring Tina’s story to the Out on Film Festival 2023.”

Following the film, there will be a Q&A session moderated by The Gayly Dose star Helmut Domagalski, allowing all attendees to connect with the director personally.

Out on Film Festival 2023 encourages everyone to take advantage of this unique cinematic event, celebrating the life and achievements of Tina DeVore, who passed in September 2021, while also recognizing Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ cultural significance.
