This summer 5th-12th graders interested in a career in film have the opportunity to build their reel, network with professionals, and produce their own content that will be screened publicly. re:imagine/ATL empowers teen storytellers by providing mentorship and resources in media production.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Georgia’s film industry and related occupations pay an average salary of $54,082 annually which is $10,000 more than the statewide average for all occupations. Georgia’s booming film sector employs over 30,000 people. Yet according to a recent report by the Georgia Department of Labor, few opportunities exist for Georgia youth to learn these skills.
From July 24-28 re:imagine/ATL will offer an exclusive music video production day camp. During this immersive experience students will learn workforce readiness as they gain skills in lighting, acting, dance, audio engineering, camera operating, editing, and best practices in production. Students also gain professional and soft skills such as networking and business etiquette.
The past three years over 100 kids and volunteers have been part of the Green Room. Over 25 music videos have been produced for bands including, Hero the Band, Dot.s, Ruby Velle & the Soulphonics, Jimi Cravity, and Kick the Robot. Some videos even involve 360 virtual reality technology. Partners and mentors include professionals from TURNER, Mailchimp, Atlanta Film Partners, TUBE, Magick Lantern and other local production studios. This day camp trains youth of all experience levels in production and connects young filmmakers to new technology and a network of professionals.
