Sandy Peaches Productions announces commencement of production of Weewax, the company’s first foray into feature films. This is the story of Weewax, a struggling artist who discovers a mob has been murdering his peers to increase the value of their work – and he’s next!
Sandy Peaches principal, Nick Benas, directs the screenplay written by Andy Wasif, known for his novel “Red Sox Fans are from Mars, Yankees Fans are From Uranus”. Film is being produced by John Andrucci, Lucky Uncle Productions; and stars Tristan Webb as Weewax. The film is supported by fiscal sponsorship through Trilith Institute.
The film is among the first projects selected for Trilith Institute’s new Fiscal Sponsorship program, which allows independent filmmakers to raise funding using the Institute’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit status while maintaining full creative control and ownership of their work. Through access to Trilith Institute’s nonprofit designation, filmmakers can make their projects eligible for tax-deductible donations, opening new funding opportunities. Benas, Director, an actor and producer with credits spanning film, television, and shorts. Published author with eight titles under Hatherleigh Press & Penguin Random House. As an actor, he has appeared in projects such as Stranger Things (2022), The Strength of God (2022), Manhunt (2023), The Exorcist: Believer (2023), Rustin (2023), Outer Banks (2024), and HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones (2023). Behind the camera, Nick directed and produced shorts Rose Scented Revenge (2025), Cotton Cut (2024), #CastingCall (2023) and is developing new projects including Weewax and Alfred & Phoebe: The Legend of Jenny Greenteeth written by and to be directed by Andrucci. Versatile both on screen and off, he brings creativity and dedication to every production.
Andrucci, Producer, is an award-winning filmmaker with a slate of films in development including Alfred & Phoebe: The Legend of Jenny Greenteeth which Benas is producing. He is the author of seven children’s books; and enjoys sharing his film and television knowledge with his students.
Wasif, Writer, was raised in Boston which inspired his Boston Globe bestselling humor book “Red Sox Fans are From Mars, Yankees Fans are From Uranus.” A stand-up comedian by trade. As a writer, his feature script The 70 Year Itch was one of the first 30 optioned by Amazon Studios; his short film Adult Puberty featuring award-winning actor Barry Bostwick enjoyed success across the festival circuit and spawned a book of the same name; he is a Max K. Lerner Fellowship winner for his play The Brothers Matafouk; and the play Ten Minutes to Close was published as part of the anthology “Stage It! 4” from Center for the Arts Bonita Springs.
