Atlanta is Building a Tech Engine

0

Atlanta’s Office of Technology & Innovation (OTI) is helping move our city forward. From job creation to major investments, we’re ensuring Atlanta remains a place where innovation thrives—and where residents benefit directly from that growth. Atlanta isn’t “building a tech scene.” Atlanta is building a tech engine.

Since our inception, OTI has helped drive meaningful, citywide impact:
✅ $34M+ in total investments in under three years, including $19M in company and program funding and $15M through the City’s commitment to Engage, a venture capital program created with the Atlanta Committee for Progress.

✅ 700+ jobs supported, generating approximately $42M in annual salaries for Atlanta residents.

✅ Stronger collaboration across Atlanta’s colleges and universities, including Georgia Tech, Spelman, Morehouse, Clark Atlanta, and Georgia State—connecting students, startups, and industry leaders to build pipelines into tech careers.

✅ Easier pathways for startups to do business with the City, leveraging the Demonstration Project to pilot solutions like water leak detection, faster procurement, and AI-powered 311 customer service.

✅ $1M invested in college technical training, backed by the U.S. Economic Development Administration, preparing students for high-demand tech roles.

✅ $3M directed to local founder programming through partnerships with ACES and the Economic Development Administration.

✅ $2.2M in startup growth loans distributed to help entrepreneurs scale.

✅ Nearly 20,000 Atlantans engaged in STEAM and tech training through year-round programs and Atlanta Tech Week.

✅ Expanded venture capital access through the activation of Resolution 24-R-3771, enabling the City to invest directly in VC funds.

✅ $70M committed to private equity managers, including $30M allocated to local funds to strengthen small businesses and job creation.

These achievements are about more than technology—they’re about people. Every investment, every job, and every training opportunity moves Atlanta forward as one connected, innovative, and inclusive city.

The numbers reflect what’s possible when public leadership, private capital, talent, and institutions move together. And we’re just getting started as we close out and account for every impactful win from our 2025 initiatives.

The next chapter builds on this foundation with deeper partnerships, faster pilots, and even more pathways for Atlanta residents and founders to thrive.
