“The Allison Wonders Show,”

Atlanta-based comedic ventriloquist Allison Wonders is bringing her adults-only solo comedy puppetry show, “The Allison Wonders Show,” to the Atlanta Fringe Festival May 29-June 6, blending ventriloquism, stand-up comedy, improv and seven original puppet characters, into a chaotic, offbeat live experience.

The show has been described as “if Carol Burnett met Jeff Dunham on Avenue Q,” mixing absurd comedy, audience interaction and surprisingly heartfelt moments. Allison performs more than 10 voices throughout the production, which explores everything from “the voices in our heads” to puppet identity crises and cosmic wisdom.
There’s also a strong local creative angle here. Allison has lived in Atlanta since 1986, spent decades working in arts education, created the North Georgia children’s TV show “Ladida’s Room,” and now coaches speakers on TEDx talks and solo performances. She’ll also take the show to New York City later this year as part of the Solo United Festival, fulfilling her dream of performing Off-Broadway.
A potential local angle might be:
  • Atlanta creative bringing unconventional comedy to Atlanta Fringe Festival.
  • The unexpected rise of a local ventriloquist performer.
  • Behind-the-scenes look at creating original puppet characters and voices.
  • Also available for live demo/interview opportunity with puppet characters.
