Watkinsville studio hopes to add to Georgia’s movie boom

The Georgia film industry is booming.

In 2016, the state became the nation’s leading producer of feature length films, and last year, production studios large and small made an economic impact in the state of more than $9 billion.

The boom has even earned Atlanta a new nickname – Y’allywood.

But away from the hustle and bustle of traffic on I-285 and the mega-studios like Pinewood and Turner, three Athens-area entrepreneurs are looking to corner their own piece of the multi-billion-dollar market.
