While the third season of “Stranger Things” will apparently include a new hangout, the Georgia backdrop remains for the award-winning series.
A teaser for the third season of Netflix Inc.’s (NYSE: NFLX) hit series shows the fictional town of Hawkins, Ind. getting a new shopping mall: Starcourt, which was filmed at Gwinnett Place Mall. The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that in May, film crews took over parts of the struggling shopping center, which opened in the early 1980s.
Netflix’s retro mock-ad reveals little about the potential plot of the show’s next season, but does note that the mall is set to open next summer, which could be a hint at the season debut.
