Georgia film credit can’t earn actors’ love

To tweak the adage, money can’t buy you love from Hollywood. That’s something Georgia is learning and something citizens in other states with film-production tax credits should note.

For some years, Georgia has offered significant tax breaks to lure film productions. Its citizens also elected a Republican governor this year. It seems the latter is more important to some Hollywood officials than the former.

A #BoycottGeorgia campaign on Twitter has been touted by several prominent and semi-prominent actors, including Ron Perlman, Alyssa Milano and Bradley Whitford. In a tweet, Whitford declared, “Studios need to put their money where their mouth is and stand up to hate.” Milano said Georgia is a “totally corrupt state that suppresses democracy.”
