Illinois Bill Amending Film Tax Credit Passes Senate

An Illinois bill amending the state’s film tax credit to include resident and nonresident wages in Illinois labor expenses has passed the state Senate.

S.B. 1595, which cleared the Senate on Friday, considers the first $200,000 of out-of-state wages as part of production companies’ Illinois labor expenses, in addition to all wages paid to state residents.

Sen. Elgie R. Sims, D-Chicago, sponsored the bill, which was introduced Feb. 15. It will now proceed to the House of Representatives. Law 360
