Documentary crew immortalizes Lumpkin, GA and ICE Detention Center

An independent documentary film crew traveled to Stewart County to capture the town of Lumpkin and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detention Center that resides there.

The Stewart Detention Center, which is contracted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is located in Lumpkin, and serves as the film’s focal point.

The film’s synopsis says,

In a fading Georgia town, a community recalls its dark past and faces a grim present. An undocumented immigrant, caught in legal limbo and facing deportation, contemplates his future. In the midst of it all, a massive, private immigration prison generates millions in profits. Where these stories meet, the hidden epicenter of America’s immigration crackdown is revealed – a place called Lumpkin, GA.

The film has been screened at multiple film festivals and will be featured on PBS’ Reel South on May 9. See more at WTVM.
