An application to establish a television- and film-related charter high school in Fayette County was unanimously turned down by the Board of Education on May 20.
The petition to establish the Lyceum Lab School on Sandy Creek Road near Pinewood Atlanta Studios was submitted in April by Dr. Artesius Miller, executive director of the Utopian Academy for the Arts in Ellenwood. The proposal received letters of support from the Georgia Film Academy, Southern Crescent Technical College, Fayetteville Mayor Edward Johnson and Fayette County Commissioner Eric Maxwell.
