Dozens of SCAD students and alumni contributed to Oscar-winning films

The 92nd Academy Awards celebrated the best in film from the past year, and there was a heavy connection to a Georgia college among the nominees.

Ahead of Sunday night’s ceremony, the Savannah College of Art and Design announced 200 students and alumni would be honored at the annual event.

Although films including “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” and the Georgia-filmed “Avengers: Endgame” and “Richard Jewell” failed to win top categories, other films, including “1917,” “Marriage Story” and “Toy Story 4,” did. All the aforementioned films included SCAD alumni and students working on them behind the scenes.

“Our programs in School of Digital Media are top rated in the world,” said Dean Max Almy of the School of Digital Media in a press release. “Our alumni are working at Pixar, Disney, ILM, Blue Sky, Dreamworks and dozens of other great companies. It’s no surprise hundreds of our alumni have worked on Academy Award winning and nominated films. We are so proud!” See more at AJC.
