The Alliance has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial resources, and activated the skills and networks of its partner organizations to directly invest in equipping the next generation of storytellers across metro Atlanta.

So Maggie and her husband started scouting from Virginia to Mississippi to find a new base. “When we realized we were constantly flying in and out of Atlanta airport, we asked, Why not Atlanta?”
The lineup of films was selected from a record-breaking 8,400+ film submissions, almost 1,000 more from the 2018 festival. Over 11 days, the festival will present 31 feature length films plus forthcoming Marquee screenings, 98 short films and 36 creative media presentations, including an array of music videos, virtual reality and episodic pilots.
It is primarily geared towards economic development professionals, city and county leaders, and students pursuing degree programs in film studies throughout the 57 southernmost counties in Georgia.
“It’s so exciting. The film festival keeps growing every year. This is our 5th anniversary and it’s going to be our best year yet,” said Tracy Haynes, the co-director of the SSU Indie Film Festival.
Students competed in three categories of films, beginner, intermediate, advanced. Film industry judges served on a panel evaluating the submissions and wards were distributed in each category for “Best of Show,” “Audience Choice” and one final “Overall Winner.”
