The Backlight Student Film Festival drew in over 500 attendees from universities, production companies, studios, and other professional organizations across the state. The festival featured a panel of industry professionals, student short film screenings, a red carpet, a networking mixer, and concluded with an awards ceremony highlighting the student filmmakers and their work. 

Georgia’s film industry, with its promising trajectory, is poised to welcome more studios and new productions in the near future.

While seeking opportunities to develop industry skills, Gray was introduced to the Georgia Film Academy (GFA). By August 2020, she was enrolled in GFA courses through the continuing education program at Clayton State University, finally beginning her journey in the industry.

As part of the university’s TVfest series of programming for students and the public,
SCAD partnered with the LA-based Writers Guild Foundation (WGF) to bring a day of
scriptwriting wisdom and a world class pop-up library to SCADshow on April 19, 2024,
for an event called SCAD TVfest: Screenwriting.
