The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) today announces that SCAD TVfest will return to Atlanta Feb. 5–7, 2025. Now in its 13th year, the university’s signature event celebrating the best in television and streaming will take place at the state-of-the art SCADshow theater.
The local crews are among the most professional and diverse in the business, with a shared commitment to excellence. Permitting is easy and conducted via Apply 4’s Filmapp, and you’ll have a wide range of gorgeous locations to film — and time to film them – thanks to Atlanta’s sumptuous green spaces and near-year-round sunshine. The outlook is sunny, too — there’s an optimism and energy to Atlanta that’s impossible to miss.

Today the nonprofit Sundance Institute announced the fellows selected for the 2025 Screenwriters Lab and Screenwriters Intensive programs, which provide emerging artists with a creative and nurturing space to develop their first and second independent features. The 10 projects for the Screenwriters Lab were selected from over 3,380 submissions, and 11 fellows will work under the guidance of accomplished creative advisors to develop their scripts. The Screenwriters Lab will take place from January 18–22 at the Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah.
Not counting the 2021 pandemic year when all theaters were closed, it’s the second lowest MLK 4-day weekend of the last 10 years with the marketplace now estimated to do $96.3M. The last time it was this low was 2022 with $85M, and that’s when Paramount/Spyglass’ Scream led with a $33.8M Friday-Monday opening.
Later this week, Georgia Entertainment will hold its “From Script to Screen” event series at the 41st annual Sundance Film Festival. These activations will spotlight the state’s locations, studio facilities, incentives and world class suppliers supporting production in Georgia.
