Savannah Makes the Next Round as Sundance Officials Notify Cities

In April the Sundance Institute initiated a Request for Information process to scout for potential locations across the United States to host the Sundance Film Festival starting from 2027. The RFI marks the initial phase of a thorough selection process tailored to collect crucial logistical details from potential host sites across the United States. Cities have been notified with either confirmation that they will continue in the process or if not. Savannah has made it to the next round. 

Athens Film Vertical Initiative: Film Makers’ Roundtable 2

With a focus on linking film makers in one Georgia community to film makers in another Georgia community, the Athens Film Vertical Initiative (AFVI) hosted Peachtree City’s Tiffany FitzHenry of FitzHenry Films and Stephen Bailey, a film funder who just moved to Athens from NYC. Joining the group was also Marty Lang, the new Director of UGA’s Film MFA.

Georgia Entertainment held their Signature Georgia Entertainment 100 on April 22nd at Eagle Rock Studios. The event was presented in partnership by Explore Gwinnett and Gateway85 CID. The special invite only affair drew over 500 of the who’s who in entertainment including directors, producers, legislators, financiers, and other creatives. At the event, Tim Minard, CEO of Eclipse Gaming, was awarded Georgia’s Entertainment Entrepreneur of the Year.

2024 Backlight Student Film Festival Concludes with 2-Day Celebration of Georgia’s Student Filmmakers

The Backlight Student Film Festival drew in over 500 attendees from universities, production companies, studios, and other professional organizations across the state. The festival featured a panel of industry professionals, student short film screenings, a red carpet, a networking mixer, and concluded with an awards ceremony highlighting the student filmmakers and their work.
