Incentives and Infrastructure Help Georgia Emerge as Word-Class Production Center

0

An aggressive incentive program thoroughly backed by the state government has boosted Georgia in recent years to become one of the world’s largest production centers. In the U.S., only California and New York can claim more film and television activity – and Georgia is growing fast.

Hailing itself as “camera-ready,” the Peach State boasts that it is home to over 30,000 production professionals and more than 1,000 production suppliers. Fueling the boom is the perception that the state’s generous incentive – a transferable tax credit of up to 30% – is relatively stable compared to that of other states where incentives can be politically controversial.

Specifically, Georgia offers producers a 20% transferrable tax credit. This jumps to 30% if the project in question includes the Georgia promotional logo in the credits. There’s also a 10% rebate for Savannah productions. The minimum spend required per project is $500,000.
