University of Georgia French Film Festival to show French films throughout February

0

This year, February won’t just mean Valentine’s Day for regular lovers, but for French film lovers as well. The University of Georgia French Film Festival will be showing a different French film every Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Tate theatre for the entire month of February. This year’s theme is focusing on women in film and behind the camera.

Robert Neupert, a film studies professor at UGA, explained how there was no place in Athens dedicated to showing foreign films. Once Ciné had opened, he immediately became a member on the board of directors and believed that this would be a great opportunity to bring foreign films, especially French films, to Athens.

“We started bringing more French films to town. Before that, there really wasn’t a theatre regularly running anything foreign,” Neupert said.
