One of the most popular cartoons in the Turner universe has drawn up plans to boost self-esteem and body confidence in young people.
Cartoon Network Studios’ Emmy-nominated Steven Universe and Dove have agreed to a two-year global partnership to deliver a unique campaign for the Dove Self-Esteem Project. Cartoon Network is Atlanta-based Turner’s top global entertainment brand.
A Turner news release described the “pioneering collaboration” as involving a series of six short animated films directed by Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar, the first of which premiered Wednesday. Turner said the content has been co-created and grounded in scientific evidence by body image expert, Dr. Phillippa Diedrichs at the Centre for Appearance Research at the University of the West of England, “in order to make a meaningful impact on a young person’s self-esteem and body confidence.”
