Joe Wilkinson, a Sandy Springs resident and former state legislator, is now leading the company that produced a new movie about a courageous dog.
Wilkinson is president of Columbus-based Fun Academy Motion Pictures, which produced “Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero,” an animated film with a $25 million budget that will be released in theatres nationwide April 13. It stars voice actors Helena Bonham Carter, Logan Lerman and Gérard Depardieu.
The movie is about a dog that was adopted by a soldier, Pvt. Robert Conroy, and became the official mascot of the U.S. Army’s 102nd Infantry Regiment, assigned to the 26th Yankee Division. He served with soldiers on the Western Front during World War I.
