The film tax credit bill that hopes of bringing more film production – and money — to Montana passed its third reading Tuesday in the House and now goes to the governor for a thumbs up or thumbs down review.
House Bill 293, sponsored by Rep. E.Wylie Galt, R-Martinsdale, passed the House 75-22 and is now headed to the governor’s desk. It proposes a film tax credit of 20 percent for all expenditures, and 25 percent for all postproduction expenditures.
Those getting the tax credit must submit tax verification reports with the state, according to an eight-page fiscal note. No more than $5 million may be requested from the Department of Commerce each year and no more than $7.5 million from the Department of Revenue. See more.
