The Tubman Museum announced Friday the inaugural Tubman African American Film Festival will take place May 3-5.

It is in coordination with the 23rd Annual Pan African Festival of Georgia.

“The three-day event brings award winning independent films from across the country to Macon and features film screenings, workshops, special events and receptions where guests can interact with filmmakers,” a release from the Tubman Museum says.

The Festival begins on May 3 with a 7 p.m. screening of the film “Tell Them We are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities at the Grand Opera House.” Special guests get reserved seating and are invited to a pre-screening reception and meet and greet with the filmmaker.
