Fans of anime and gaming to come out and play

0

This year marks the 15th year that the self-proclaimed “geek culture” convention MomoCon will come to Atlanta May 23-26.

The convention to be held at the Georgia World Congress Center, is run by DeKalb County couple Jessica Merriman and Chris Stuckey.

Merriman launched MomoCon in 2004 on the Georgia Tech Campus because she had a “desire to expand the community around Georgia Tech who liked anime and video games,” according to Stuckey. The first convention in 2005, which funded and supported by the Georgia Tech anime club, garnered 700 attendees. In 2018, the convention had 35,000 attendees and this year’s event is expected to have 38,000 attendees.
