The Peaberry Film Festival has officially released the full schedule for its 2025 edition, running Oct. 2–5 at the Historic Canton Theatre.
Opening night will feature special guest Judd Lormand, star of CBS’ hit series SEAL Team, who will take part in an on-stage Q&A to kick things off. The evening will also include opening remarks from Canton Mayor Bill Grant before the metro Atlanta premiere of the Tribeca-winning documentary feature Natchez.
NATCHEZ captures an unsettling clash between history and memory in a small Mississippi town; a layered mosaic of people contending with the weight of the past in a place where it is always present. Equal parts amusing and disturbing, the film journeys through an antebellum tourist destination at a crossroads as it grapples with a deeply troubled history so thoroughly ingrained in its present, audiences are left to wonder if it is actually past at all.
“This is the third year in a row that Peaberry has opened with a film that explores Southern history through different lenses,” said Festival Director Brent Lambert-Zaffino.
“This is a gorgeous movie. We are very proud to be bringing it to Canton.”Beyond opening night, the 2025 Peaberry Film Festival promises a weekend full of bold and surprising programming, including:
- A wide range of films from local and international voices.
- We’re So Dead — a wickedly funny horror-comedy feature exploring the everyday horrors of life in the service industry.
- Withdrawal — a riveting, can’t-miss feature tackling substance abuse with raw honesty and emotional power.
- Live music and after-parties that transform screenings into community celebrations.
- A David Lynch-inspired block where audiences will enjoy coffee and pie while taking in surreal, dreamlike cinema.
- A Latine films block presented in partnership with Latinas in Media ATL, celebrating the voices and visions of Latine filmmakers.
