The 2025 SCAD Savannah Film Festival announced in partnership with Gold Derby that actor Regina Hall will receive the Spotlight Award, recognizing her performance in Warner Bros. Pictures’ One Battle After Another, the critically acclaimed new action comedy from writer/director/producer Paul Thomas Anderson. The award will be presented following a screening of the film Sunday, Oct. 26, and include a conversation with Hall and Outstanding Achievement in Casting Award honoree Cassandra Kulukundis, moderated by Gold Derby editor-in-chief Debra Birnbaum. The 2025 SCAD Savannah Film Festival is scheduled to take place Oct. 25–Nov. 2.

Award-winning actress and producer Regina Hall began her career in New York City while simultaneously earning a master’s degree in journalism from New York University. With numerous film and television credits to her name, she is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses and producers. In One Battle After Another, she stars in an ensemble that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, and SCAD chair of film and television D.W. Moffett. She is known for her roles in Support the Girls, Girls Trip, The Best Man and Nine Perfect Strangers. Up next, Hall will star in The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, Judgment Day, The Five Star Weekend, and Scary Movie 6. Her other past films include Breaking News in Yuba County, O’Dessa, Shaft, The Hate U Give, When the Bough Breaks, Barbershop: The Next Cut, Think Like a Man Too, About Last Night, Law Abiding Citizen, Paid in Full, Scary Movie, and three Scary Movie sequels. On TV, she has appeared in guest roles on Grandfathered, Insecure, and Black-ish.
In 2024, Hall and her production company Rh Negative signed an exclusive first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios to develop and produce original series in the unscripted true crime, ensemble docuseries, and game genres. Hall founded the company in 2022, quickly establishing herself as a producer to watch by producing and starring in two of the headlining features of the 2022 Sundance Film Festival: Master and Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul.
Presented by the Savannah College of Art and Design, the SCAD Savannah Film Festival is filled with cinematic creativity from award-winning professionals and emerging student filmmakers. Each year, more than 75,000 people attend the eight-day festival.
