The University of West Georgia’s School of Communication, Film, and Media (SCFM) proudly announces its Third Annual Media Night, a signature celebration of student achievement, industry excellence, and community engagement. The event will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the UWG Campus Center Ballroom, beginning with a cocktail hour at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner and the program at 7:00 p.m., and concluding with a lively “Cupcakes & Karaoke” after-party at 8:30 p.m.
This year’s theme, “Building the Legacy | Investing in Student Excellence,” highlights the transformative power of higher education, experiential learning, and career readiness in shaping the next generation of media professionals.
The evening will feature Monica Kaufman Pearson as the keynote speaker. Pearson is a trailblazing journalist and the first woman and first minority to anchor the daily evening news in Atlanta, Georgia. With a distinguished career spanning 37 years at WSB-TV and 33 Emmy Awards to her name, Pearson’s legacy continues through her current show, Monica Pearson One on One on Peachtree TV.
Media Night 2025 offers a unique opportunity for alumni, industry leaders, and community partners to connect with students, celebrate their accomplishments, and invest in their future. Sponsorships range from individual tickets to premier branding opportunities, with all proceeds supporting student learning and professional development.
