In part two of this special series on DJ Pierre and the acid house music scene in Atlanta, Georgia Film News travels behind the scenes of the artist-owned techno club – WildPitch. DJ Pierre shares the latest on his club since its opening in June 2016 and performing live.

The University of North Georgia (UNG) will screen the film “American Textures” as part of a Diversity Film Series on the Dahlonega, Gainesville and Oconee Campuses March 7-9.

DJ Pierre shares how he got his start in the music industry and his founding of the Acid House genre in Chicago in the late 80s, as part of the group PHUTURE. He also talks about the latest from his Afro Acid Studio in Atlanta.

The creative industries in Georgia represent a combined $37 billion in revenue and employ an estimated 200,000 Georgians statewide, making up five percent of employment in the state.

Effective on or after January 1, 2017, interim production expenditures qualify for the film tax credit subject to the following two conditions/limitations: (1) the subsequent season is filmed in Georgia and (2) the expenditures can be claimed only in the taxable year in which the subsequent season begins, even if those expenditures were incurred in the prior taxable year.

Students toured the Inside the NBA set, the social media “den”, and visited an editing suite to see a Cartoon Network premiere go from rough cut to tv-ready. Students also heard from a panel of Turner employees who shared their career path.
