The Georgia Film Academy’s Dramatic Writing Program was developed in 2018, in part because Georgia had become a center of film and television production and needed to build a pipeline of homegrown writers. The course can satisfy an English graduation requirement and is built around four areas: genre and multi-modality, playwriting, film writing and television writing.

In December 2025, GFA partnered with Fayette County and Forsyth County Schools to pilot a brand‑new style of film competition: The On‑Set Film Sprint, where student teams had just one day on set to bring their short films to life.
Nearly 10,000 High School Students converged on the Georgia World Congress Center for competitions in Career Fields spanning cosmetology, construction, welding, and film. GFA and Chapman/Leonard were on-site with hands-on experiences covering Camera, Lighting, Broadcast, and Art Department.
