The teaser for “On the Nose”, the new short film written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Thomas Davisson, has been released, offering an eye-catching preview of what promises to be a cathartic experience for anyone who’s ever been in a long-term relationship.

The film follows a woman preparing for a night out who seeks outfit advice from her boyfriend. However, when he tries to give her the “right” answer, she recognizes that the only way to get the truth is to play rough, even at the risk of ruining their relationship…and lives.  “On the Nose” offers audiences an all-too-familiar insight into how partners avoid conflict in long-term relationships and how confronting romantic issues can be both incredibly scary and rewarding.

The short film stars Alexis Presley (West Side StoryHospo) as the girlfriend and Mustapha Slack (Gotham KnightsGrounds) as the boyfriend. Both actors deliver compelling performances that capture the complexity of modern romantic communication.

Davisson, a director, producer, editor, and writer based in Atlanta and a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, has been producing and directing independent films since his studies. His narrative and documentary projects have screened at festivals throughout the country, earning recognition for his distinctive storytelling style. He is currently developing an original feature film involving a small-town murder mystery.

“I wrote this short film quickly with more feeling than thought, and I think it touched a fairly personal nerve,” said Davisson. “I sometimes write characters from people I know, and this short was no different. It led to an investigation into my own communication-quirks and screw-ups. It’s a trap I often fall into: dramatically attempting to avoid conflict, and nevertheless falling smack dab in the middle of it. “On the Nose” illuminates how relationships live and breathe on open communication, and how sometimes saying the ‘right’ thing leads one down the wrong path.”

The short was produced in Atlanta, GA, and is set to hit the festival circuit in late 2025.
